Puppet Show
Since 1986, the Junior League of Winston-Salem (JLWS) has presented You Can Always Talk to Someone, a live puppet show for all third graders in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools (WS/FCS).
This impactful program addresses critical issues such as child abuse, neglect, and internet safety, empowering children with the knowledge of how to respond and encouraging them to seek support from a trusted adult.
During the 2016-17 school year alone, over 4,400 students attended the performance, with 80-100 children coming forward to discuss concerns raised in the show—demonstrating its significant impact.
In 2021, due to COVID-19, the show was recorded digitally to ensure continued access for students. However, for reasons beyond our control, the puppet show is no longer being offered in schools.
If you or an organization you’re affiliated with would like to screen You Can Always Talk to Someone to benefit a young audience, please contact the Community Chair for more information.
